Highland Park 2013 - The Trows Of Orkney

DISTILLED 28th October 2013 and BOTTLED 30th July 2026

Iconic for being one of only 2 distilleries on Orkney’s many isles and for one of only a few in the country having its own malting floors. The distillery produced malt at 30-40ppm is blended with unpeated malt from the mainland offering the distillery output a subtle but ever-present gentle smokiness. Full maturation in a 1st fill bourbon barrel has intensified the unique distillery character.

Typical bourbon sweetness of coconut, vanilla, honey and toffee on the initial nose but a second sniff reveals the gentle smokiness running through this coastal dram. Inviting and very complex on the palate with warmth and spice of black cracked pepper but fades to more sweetness of honey on toast and lemon cake. The spice returns on the finish when the sweetness fades to notes of peppery spice and toasted oak.
