Lady of the Glen Q4 Outrun – Final Release of the Year

The Q4 Outrun is always a special time of year for us — the final release where we get to showcase some of our favourite casks, hand-selected, hand-bottled, and closely monitored right here in the warehouse. There’s something about walking past rows of casks and knowing that each cask has its own story — it’s a process that takes patience and attention.

This release is about more than numbers and ABVs; it’s about the character of each cask, the journey of the spirit from the distillery to the bottle, and the small decisions we make in maturation and finishing that bring out new dimensions of flavour. From the salty, peated power of Islay to the delicate floral elegance of Speyside, every bottle is a snapshot of a moment in the warehouse, bottled for you to enjoy.

Here’s a closer look at the casks in this Q4 Outrun, with a sense of their stories, their yields, ABVs, cask types, and the flavours that make them special.

Caol Ila 2015 – 10 Years Old

Cask: Refill Hogshead / Finished 2 Years in Refill Ruby Port (#302613)
Yield: 300 bottles
ABV: 58.3%

Warehouse Story: Bottled straight from the cask at full strength, this peated Islay malt was finished in ruby port barrels, giving us that gentle sweetness that made the warehouse smell of baked cherries and oak. You could almost taste the West Coast air wafting in as we filled each bottle.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Coastal peat, waxy fruit, charred lemon, baked apple, cherry lozenges; coffee, chocolate, paraffin, toasted oak emerge over time.
  • Palate: Baked apple, salted liquorice, smoked nuts, green olives.
  • Finish: Long, with leather, salty, and ashy notes complementing the initial sweetness.

Dailuaine 2014 – 11 Years Old

Cask: Re-coopered US Oak Barrique (#309560)
Yield: 262 bottles
ABV: 57.9%

Warehouse Story: Handling this cask, the rich vanilla and maple notes were immediately apparent. As we bottled, the aroma of toffee and blackcurrants filled the room, reminding us why Speyside’s fruity depth is so prized. This cask had a personality all its own.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Aromatic, reminiscent of a school workshop; toffee, caramel, coffee grounds, brown sugar.
  • Palate: Spicy espresso upfront, then blackberry jam, raisin brioche, dried cranberries.
  • Finish: Butterscotch sweetness initially, drying to earthy, herbal notes.

Glen Scotia 2016 – 8 Years Old

Cask: 1st Fill Bourbon Barrel / Finished 2 Years in Tawny Port (#892-4)
Yield: 231 bottles
ABV: 56.5%

Warehouse Story: Filling this Campbeltown malt was a sensory experience: the tawny port finish gave off waves of chocolate, nut, and dried fruit aromas that mingled with the unmistakable salty, maritime signature of Glen Scotia. Every bottle captured that seaside energy.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Charcuterie, ground coffee, butterscotch, walnut whip, beach pebbles, salted liquorice.
  • Palate: Salted caramel, roasted nuts, fig roll notes; rich and balanced.
  • Finish: Long, slightly spiced, with subtle chilli-flavoured salt character.

Linkwood 2015 – 10 Years Old

Cask: Hogshead / Finished 2 Years 8 Months in Ex-White Pineau (#312761)
Yield: 251 bottles
ABV: 61%

Warehouse Story: Bottling this one was like walking through a French vineyard in a barrel room. The White Pineau finish gave layers of honeyed sweetness and dried figs, and every time we opened the cask we could almost taste the citrus and floral notes blooming in the air.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Green apple skins, citrus peel, rose, freshly cut grass.
  • Palate: Dill, fennel, spiced oranges, apple pastry, heather honey.
  • Finish: Long, mouth-coating, buttery shortbread notes.

Mannochmore 2014 – 11 Years Old

Cask: Bourbon Hogshead (#10367)
Yield: 279 bottles
ABV: 60.3%

Warehouse Story: This light, floral malt surprised us at bottling — the spice, toffee, and vanilla had melded beautifully. Every pour seemed to tell the story of the hogshead it matured in.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Baked banana, toffee sweetness, waxy wood spice.
  • Palate: Ginger and nutmeg upfront, transitioning to chocolate honeycomb.
  • Finish: Lemon and lime notes balance lingering sweet and spicy flavours.

Royal Brackla 2011 – 13 Years Old

Cask: Refill Barrel / Finished 2+ Years in First-Fill Tawny Port (#1315)
Yield: 159 bottles
ABV: 56.9%

Warehouse Story: Bottling Royal Brackla was a treat — chocolate, walnut, and dried cherry aromas filled the room. The warehouse felt almost like a chocolaterie as we worked through the cask, ensuring every bottle captured its elegance.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Toffee fudge, rum ’n’ raisin, red wine reduction, caramelised nuts, dusty bookshelf.
  • Palate: Milk chocolate, glazed cherries, gingery oak.
  • Finish: Long, with oak tannins, white pepper, and chocolate praline.

Teaninich 2004 – 21 Years Old

Cask: Hogshead / Finished 18+ Months in Refill Barrique (#301146)
Yield: 280 bottles
ABV: 55.2%

Warehouse Story: Long-aged and subtle, this Teaninich demanded patience at bottling. The refill barrique added just the right touch of spice and fruit, and each bottle captured the gentle evolution of the spirit over 21 years.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Light and fresh, evolving into desiccated coconut, honeysuckle, tobacco.
  • Palate: Cinnamon, apple, red liquorice, vanilla custard; spiced biscuit and coffee notes build over time.
  • Finish: Light yet lingering, with pain-au-chocolat and chamomile tea nuances.
